Before I return to the dealer I want to know what I'm talking about. We want to be transparent about the data we and our partners collect and how we use it, so you can best exercise control over your personal data. Is the door latch connected to the locking mechanism or is this simply a coincidence? I called the dealer and they want to charge me to 'diagnose' the problem and more to fix it. I've never had this happen on any car I've had in the past. Now, today, when using the key in the driver's side handle the entire lock mechanism came out from the handle. at best it's a toss of the coin with the hatch opening -driver's side only with key. My question: Are the door latches in some way connected to the door handle, particularly the driver's side key handle?ģ locks, including hatch work with the fob. That was my 1st mistake, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I had the door latches replaced because of a recall (KIA bulletin?). Does anyone want to buy my car? Massachusetts ![]() WTF! I hate my car because of other issues as well - it's a 2011 Sorento with only 122K - now, after recall repairs etc the car runs like it's brand new. I have the same problems with my LX - as everybody here - but get this: I tried to lock/unlock the driver's side door using the key and the entire lock mechanism came right out. Unfortunately, I doubt my remaining warranty would cover this. I even tried connecting the removed battery terminals to each other - to supposedly drain any computer capacitor stored voltage - no help/change. Once it acted up in this manner, it has continued to do it - every time.īesides a second fob, the only other thing I have tried is to disconnect the battery for several minutes. All other door switches and fob functions work as they always have. I have to go around and manually lock all doors at each exit - old school. Not a big deal, but I have certainly got used to hitting the driver's door lock switch to lock all doors as I exit, or hitting the fob to lock all doors - nothing happens with either. I've tried the other original fob (in new/unused condition), with the same result - will not unlock. The driver's door lock switch/button does nothing either (it will unlock, but will not lock the doors). ![]() A couple of months ago, the fob would no longer lock the doors.
